This Californian release is an endeavour more than twenty years in the making, when Penfolds winemakers imported heritage vine cuttings from esteemed South Australian vineyards and planted them in Californian soil. From these foundations, the Californian Release wines were born.

Max's

Our Max’s tier was introduced in 2016 and pays tribute to our first Chief Winemaker Max Schubert, who dared to revolutionise Australian winemaking. Each wine is polished and charming in character, expressing varietal cues, alluring fruit and structure. They are immediately accessible but not without the assurance of more to come.

The Penfolds wine experience begins with Koonunga Hill. Named after one of our Barossa Valley vineyards, the Koonunga Hill range has established a world-wide reputation for value, lasting quality and consistency.

CELLAR RESERVE

Our Cellar Reserve range offers handcrafted, limited production wines. Created in the spirit of innovation, our winemaking team explore new varietals and styles with this range. A range that expands the parameters of what it is to be a Penfolds wine.

Limited Editions

In the spirit of innovation and experimentation, throughout our history, a collection of Limited Edition wines have been released. These include; the 2012 glass ampoule containing the rare 2004 Kalimna Block 42 Cabernet Sauvignon, the Penfolds g series and the 2021 Superblend releases.

Fortifieds 

Penfolds has a long tradition of fortified wine production, dating back to 1844. Many of these beautifully concentrated and complex wines are now living history, with material stretching back decades.

Our tawny range comprises a range of styles, including; the 50 Year Old Rare Tawny series, Grandfather Rare Tawny and Club Tawny.
