INTRODUCING PENFOLDS CELLAR RESERVE
ENTWINING WINEMAKER CURIOSITY WITH EMERGING VARIETALS, TECHNIQUES AND REGIONS
One-off bottlings. Stylistic experimentation. Penfolds Cellar Reserve offers winemakers a canvas for exploration.
Chief Winemaker Peter Gago established the range in the mid-1990s, encouraging Penfolds winemakers to take a small-batch, sensitive approach. To craft intentionally in the spirit of discovery.
Making space for emerging varietals, regions, techniques and styles, Penfolds Cellar Reserve invites a closer look, and rewards the curious. Produced in limited quantities exclusively for Penfolds Magill Estate Cellar Door, online and selected restaurant partners.

CELLAR RESERVE TEMPRANILLO
A uniquely Penfolds take on this Spanish grape varietal, sourced exclusively from McLaren Vale. Plum and rhubarb crumble meet charcuterie tones, shaped by seasoned French oak into a generous, silky‑dense palate. A wine in search of tapas.

CELLAR RESERVE GRENACHE SHIRAZ MATARO
Undeniably and proudly fruit driven. Penfolds 100% McLaren Vale GSM offers a stylistic counterpoint to Bin 138 from the Barossa Valley. Perfumed florals lead flavours of pomegranate, strawberry and caraway, carried across a palate framed by sweet, pithy acidity.

CELLAR RESERVE PINOT NOIR
Recent vintages mark the first Cellar Reserve Pinot Noir to partially mature in amphora. A champion for cool-climate precision from Tasmania. Light to medium-bodied, with vibrant strawberry fruit and a line of fine minerality delivering freshness and restraint.

CELLAR RESERVE POLISH HILL RIESLING
A reserved parcel of a single vineyard located in the Polish Hill district of the Clare Valley. Ancient soils and elevated terrain yield a tightly coiled showcase of ripe citrus and talc-like minerality. A Clare Valley reflection of Bin 51 Eden Valley Riesling.
WHERE INNOVATION PLAYS
As always with Penfolds, each Cellar Reserve release begins with exceptional fruit and unwavering winemaking rigour – as well as a winemaker’s question to explore.
A range that expands the parameters of what it is to be a Penfolds wine, some may shape the future of the Collection, others reveal shifts already in motion.
"Full of promise on multiple fronts. These are essentially works in progress which reflect the experimental culture of Penfolds."
– Brendan Carter, Ninth Edition Penfolds Rewards of Patience Panelist
