Bin 28 Shiraz was developed during Max Schubert’s Grange project and modelled off a trial that comprised 100% shiraz sourced exclusively from the esteemed Barossa Valley Kalimna vineyard. This early experiment set the blueprint for the wine, which remains largely unchanged today.

Increasing demand for this hugely popular wine through the latter half of the 20th century, allowed Penfolds winemakers to include material from other warm-climate South Australian wine regions. No matter the sourcing, the character of Bin 28 has always remained paramount to any winemaking decisions.

Today, Bin 28 is a multi-region Australian shiraz that epitomises the Penfolds House Style with ripe choc-berry fruits, firm tannin structure and generous flavours. It is a style that impresses immediately upon each release, with an approachability that suggests early to medium-term drinking. It does, however, continue to evolve and develop further complexity in the cellar, making Bin 28 shiraz a hugely popular wine among collectors all over the world.
